After kisses and hugs, changing diaper is one of the most common gestures made by young parents! However, at first glance, it does not seem frankly intuitive. There has never been a parent who wouldn't wondered how to put a diaper on a newborn!
Choose the right diaper size
First of all, be aware that diapers, like clothes, have a size that changes with your child. Logically, when he grows up, he wears larger diapers, the sizes of which increase according to his weight. Overall, diapers are always classified into 6 categories:
- Size 1 : 2 to 5 kg
- Size 2 : 3 to 6 kg
- Size 3 : 4 to 9 kg
- Size 4 : 7 to 17 kg
- Size 5 : 11 to 20 kg
Once you have the right size diapers with you, now is the time to get down to business! Before changing the baby's diaper, make sure you have all the necessary things nearby so that you never leave him alone on the changing table.
Always wash your hands to prevent the spread of bacteria. Finally, be aware that it is not necessary to completely undress your toddler to change him. Better not to take off his top so he doesn't catch a cold. Take off his socks if you don't want him to dirty them.
The diaper: How? In which way? We tell you everything!
Before putting on a new diaper on your baby, you should, of course, take off his used diaper, clean his skin properly and dry it.
The first step: determine the front and the back of the diaper… In reality, it's very simple. The stretchy side tapes are attached to the back part. Position them behind the baby's back, against the changing table.
Slightly lift the child's butt to place this rear part just under his pelvis. Then, fold the front of the diaper at the level of his navel, while trying to center it. If it's a little boy, be sure to point his genitals downward to prevent leakage.
Diaper should be snug enough to hold in feces, but it shouldn't be too tight either. To help you, know that you must be able to pass about two fingers at the level of the navel when the diaper is closed. Toddlers' stomachs tend to expand a lot when they eat. It is therefore necessary to provide sufficient space.
Finally, just remember to pull the rafflles on the contour of the thighs outwards. This avoids friction while limiting the risk of leaks. All you have to do is put the baby bodysuit back on, as well as his cute clothes!
